I did the drug once many years ago when it was still called something else and found the effects to be similar to those of DMT, which I used occasionally in the Sixties, especially when I was doing abstract paintings. And I won't express an opinion either way on the use of psychedelic drugs as a spiritual development tool, because no one can predict what kind of effect they'll have on a particular individual.

And I agree that some people react as you did to reading the lyrics, but others are like me and actually hear MORE when listening to the song after reading them.
